“Deconstruction” program for adults helps fill a gap in the workforce

WILX profiled founder Derrick Knox and the Opportunity Knox deconstruction program, which trains adults 18 and up in hands-on trade skills — carpentry, plumbing, electrical and more — through a four-week, 160-hour certified course. With most contractors struggling to find skilled workers, graduates step into roles employers have already lined up.

“This is priceless to be able to give people career tools” that last a lifetime, founder Derrick Knox told WILX.
